SPC Group 2

In this project, I believe each group group did a great job at presenting their assigned chapters considering the circumstances. The slides from each group were very informative and provided examples such as videos and pictures to help better understand. The first group was assigned chapter 3 which was about Intercultural Communication meaning interactions with different cultures. The second group was assigned chapter 9 which was about Communicating in Groups meaning talking to friends, support groups, and family. The third group was assigned chapter 10 which was about Group Leadership and Problem Solving meaning leadership among a group of individuals and helping each other.    During the first presentation, group one talked about intercultural communication. Group one informed us on verbal and nonverbal interaction between people from different backgrounds. Group one did an amazing job at effectively explaining what the chapter was about. They used many informa...

SPC GROUP #2 -Anneth

First, I’m going to start saying this online class it’s been kinda hard but I do understand the reasons why we have to through this for our safety and hopefully soon time by time things will be good for all of us. I do appreciate my teacher for her taking time to make this virtual online work for us and the classmate help each other to keep up with the work and  anything else what’s going on to keep each other update with the classwork. I really do like the fact this class is very friendly nobody judge here, it is very nice. For example, when we all did our first presentation together everyone was very helpful and when we didn’t understand or didn’t know how to do something they will help you and show how does it go. When one of us is struggle with something one of the student will take there time to help and as well it’s good that we all always communicate with each other. Once again I appreciate for it how nice this class is.  During the presentation, the first group t...

Speech Group 2 Blog

The class began just like any other day but this time the professor had different plans for us. She explained how we were gonna be divided into groups and we were going to do the first presentation of the course. Personally, I was very anxious about the whole idea of presenting in front of everyone but I've got to admit doing it remotely made me more comfortable and confident. Once the groups were assigned, the leader created group chats so we could communicate on how we were going to do it and how we were going to present it. When everything was done it was presentation time and thankfully we were not the first to go.  Group one was the first to go and they did an amazing job. I didn't just learn about Intercultural communication but also about values, how cultures differ, individualism, collectivism, chronemics, and even incompatible communication. The way group 1 taught me all of these new concepts was definitely different than what I'm used to but it was something new t...

SPC Group 2

This month my group and I had to do our first presentation for our class. Our professor divided us into three separate groups in order for each group to have the same amount of work. We all had to communicate with each other’s on our own time after class in order for us to do our work in sequence. We never had the opportunity to see face to face with our teammates, but we still completed our work on time by texting or calling. Each group had a different day to present their presentation.  My teammate and I texted each other every day to make sure everyone was on track with their part of the project.                    The first group that presented had to talk about intercultural communications. They had to read chapter 3 and do a presentation explaining and giving details about what intercultural communication is and how is it used. Group One also talked about cultural identity and how cult...

Our First Virtual Presentation

Image
With the foreign life of remote learning taking over our first college semester, it can seem difficult to communicate with your classmates and have any kind of work done. However, every individual group from our speech class exceeded any expectation, especially online. Working in groups can become a daunting task because certain people end up doing more work and carrying the weight of other group members like it would happen in high school. Now, I can't speak for each group, but in my group (group 2) the work was split evenly and everyone put in maximum effort. We helped each other throughout the struggles we had when putting together the presentation which was refreshing in an online setting where everyone keeps to themselves behind the screen. Presenting is the big monster everyone is absolutely terrified, at least I am, but this class as a whole was respectful as everyone spoke and explained their topics. Although presenting online seems sort of awkward because you're just ...

SPC Group 2

Today in my Speech class, we did our first presentation. Our teacher divided us into three groups, and it was a little to hard because it was online and sometimes we didn't have internet to do the power point. I think that we couldn't really express ourselves because it was online. We couldn't show our charms either, but we all did good in the presentation. First group talked about Intercultural Communication. They have to talk deep into Cultural Identity, How cultures differ and also about Developing Intercultural Communication. For me Group 1 did a great job on their presentation. They used lots of pictures and videos. This was very important because we were able to understand and have a better idea of the presentation. This was the first group presenting the first project of the year in this class. None of them looked nervous, maybe they were nervous but maybe they were hiding it or maybe they were not nervous. They found the right words to say in there presentation and...

Our first online presentation!!!

Discussing about a certain topic is not too hard, the key to success while doing it is to be very informed about it. In school this is very important, students will be always doing research and presentations. This helps to increase their knowledge. From my own experience and after doing some research, I learned that before exposing any topic you should follow a few steps: - Analyze your audience - Select your topic - Inform yourself about your topic - Define the objective of your presentation - Present data and facts While following these steps you are more prone to be successful.           Here you can see a video that explains how to engage your audience.         In my Speech and Communication class, we already did a presentation. Our teacher divided us in three teams. It was a little bit hard because we had to do it online. I think we could not really get to express ourselves in the best way, or to show ou...

The Presentations of Hours

The chapters that the students presented to the class felt more like their own insights that they have provided to the class about basic ethics and their own personal beliefs. Learning through students instead of the professor was quite refreshing in a sense that everyone who presented had around the same amount of knowledge as me and fears of sharing with the class. Since we were all on the same boat together and going through the same college stresses, everything just felt so natural and was presented while still encouraging others to do their best.     Although the presentations were perfect, learning about cultures, healthy group dynamics and how to solve problems as a group - really left my mind feeling fresh and boosted me while working in my own group during this current project, the previous one and the many to come after this. I will not lie that the group itself hasn't been a chaotic bunch. But they did what they were supposed to do an...
