Our first online presentation!!!

Discussing about a certain topic is not too hard, the key to success while doing it is to be very informed about it. In school this is very important, students will be always doing research and presentations. This helps to increase their knowledge. From my own experience and after doing some research, I learned that before exposing any topic you should follow a few steps:

- Analyze your audience

- Select your topic

- Inform yourself about your topic

- Define the objective of your presentation

- Present data and facts

While following these steps you are more prone to be successful.

Here you can see a video that explains how to engage your audience.

In my Speech and Communication class, we already did a presentation. Our teacher divided us in three teams. It was a little bit hard because we had to do it online. I think we could not really get to express ourselves in the best way, or to show our charms, but despite that we all did pretty well. At least, that is what our professor said.

Group of people in a project

The first group talked about Intercultural Communication. They had to go deep into Cultural Identity, How cultures differ and also about Developing Intercultural Communication Competence. That group performed an amazing job. They used a lot of pictures and videos. I think this was something very important because we were able to understand and have a better idea of what they were saying. How I already mentioned, this was the first group presenting the first project of the year. Despite that, none of them looked nervous, I know they were, but in my opinion they did well at hiding it. I can also say, that of the three groups, this one was the most organized and it was not too long. They found the correct words and expressions to make clear their ideas and statements. Out of the three presentations this one was my favorite.

                                                                 Online presentation

The second group was mine. We had to talk about communicating in groups. We learned about the Nature and Types of groups, Characteristics of healthy groups, Stages of Group Development, and Conflict in Groups. During the process we helped each other, we read a lot, and we informed ourselves. Once the project was ready, it was time to expose it. In my opinion, some of the students, (including me) made really long slides. I think that for the next one, we should to be more aware of the time and summarize our topic. We were also very organized and used the necessary tools to make our audience understand our points of view. In regards to me, I did not really like presenting online, I prefer doing it in person to function better and use physical expressions. It looks more professional. My topics were Culture and Conflict, and Virtual Groups and Conflict. I really enjoyed learning about it because it increased my knowledge and helped understand more about the differences that can exist between two people from different cultures when they are having a conversation. Since this was my group, I will humbly say it was the best one.  👌💖

And finally the third group talked about Leadership, Effective Meeting, Systematic Problem Solving, Communicating Group Solutions and Evaluating Group Effectiveness. As my group, this one also took very long, but something I liked the most was that they really knew about their topic. They could not present all the same day, but despite that little disorganization they demonstrated that they had knowledge of their subjects. Honestly this was not my favorite group, since it was the last one, and they could not finish the same day, the presentation did not look too professional.

This group had all of this characteristics

All I can say is that this first project in group was a great experience. We got to know each other more and learn about different topics. I really hope to enjoy all of my assignments the same way I enjoyed this one.
